I'm sure we applaud the courage of the new nobility of France. All nobility began that way though. And with the passing of a generation or two they'd have become just as elitist as the ancien regime. Are we now to say it is unnatural for the Royalists to want back what they had known before? And are we to say they were any more courageous and loyal than any of the officers and Generals of other nations with noble blood who fought them?
And it's hardly like some of the new nobility didn't begin to take advantage of their new positions when abroad.
