Better in the sense it shows how British Military Justice was not just a matter of using the lash on the crew, that is, everyone from Admiral to regular seaman were expected to do their job to the upmost or pay a heavy price.
To my knowledge, Byng's was the only such example made. Doubt if it was necessary to do this very often to make the point clear.
