The pieces I posted show that Davout was prepared to express, not just acceptance but, enthusiasm for the Bourbons. My understanding is that he was on his way back to France when he got the order to retire to the country on account of the accusations over his conduct at Hamburg. His memoir to the king requested an enquiry, I don't know whether anything was done about setting one up or whether it was still pending.
What evidence do you have that Davout never intended to serve the Bourbons?
