- as Kevin Kiley puts it, is in any case an ambiguous phrase-
"The majority of those who post"? "The majority of posts"? (I am assuming an 's' has gone astray somewhere, as I am not sure one can have a 'majority of opinion').

Given the circular to-ing and fro-ing of the extended threads, usually inconclusive, with which we are all familiar, it is a clear a handful of obstinate partisans can generate a body of traffic which in the end would likely prove to be statistically insignificant.

"Seven or eight" gentlemen, I submit, do not represent "comparatively large numbers" and certainly not "the majority of opinion[s] expressed." The phrase ‘’a vocal minority' comes to mind.

My impression, and surely that is the best that anyone can say, without the tedious effort required actually to back up such statements with anything as inconvenient as facts is that there is a handful of critics who may indeed genuinely be flag-waving John Bulls foaming at the mouth (Others, evincing similar bile, would seem not to be British at all which skews the sample somewhat.). Meanwhile, there are others who on occasion, in true Gillray form, simply like to tease those who give the impression- that word again- that they are equally rabid in their reverence for Napoleon Bonaparte; on occasion these grinning jackanapes may stoop to employing facts, although often those seem to have little impact. It may even be fair to say some perhaps take an undue pleasure in tweaking the noses of those whose insistent, sonorous, and sometimes questionable pronouncements in his defence can make them appear faintly ridiculous. Of course, I could be mistaken.
