I would suggest that Dwyer is not the best author to refer to on the subject of Napoleon.
Have you read the book that I referenced by Boycott-Brown?
Again, how would you expect an army commander to react to problems such as Napoleon faced in Italy in 1796-1797 along his line of communications or in his rear areas?
