There was a following incident somewhere in 'Napoleonic' Europe: a small military unit of an invading country, caught asleep, was extermined by local population. As a result all inhabitants of the offending village were burnt alive. Needless to say, there was no punishment afterwards.
Would you evaluate on this incident? I am interested especially of your opinion if the actions taken were legitimate or not, and which side, if any, would be excused (if you prefer, your arguments may also be based on the assumed level of civilization or education).
In the meanwhile I will check the exact place and nationality of this incident's participants.
Thank you in advance,
Waldemar
