D. José António de Meneses e Sousa Coutinho (Principal Sousa) - member of the Regency Council, representing the Clergy, up to 1820.
Was Deacon of the Patriarchical Church in Lisbon. Was the first to defend the return of the King in 1817.
D. Rodrigo Domingos de Sousa Coutinho (Count of Linhares) (1755-1812) - Was embassador in Turim till 1796, then Minister of the Navy and Colonies. He was again Minister of Navy and Colonies in Rio de Janeiro.
D. Domingos António de Sousa Coutinho (Count of Funchal) (1760-1833) - Diplomat and Embassador to London. Edited "O Investigador Portuguez em Inglaterra", a a way to oppose the "Correio Braziliense". Was member of the Regency briefly in 1821. Also named Cavaleiro de Sousa (or Chevalier de Sousa). Had an important participation in creating the Loyal Lusitanian Legion.
